Alisa Chapman

Alisa Chapman served as a Visiting Fellow in Public Policy and the Global Research Institute at UNC Chapel Hill.  In this capacity, her scholarly activity is focused on educator quality research with a goal of expanding research-based evidence that is responsive to the needs of the state and local policy makers, and education practitioners in North Carolina’s systems of public education.  Since 1999, Alisa served the University of North Carolina (UNC) General Administration; since 2011, as Vice President for Academic and University Programs where she had the responsibility of advancing efforts within the University to prepare more, higher quality teachers and school leaders for the public schools of North Carolina.  Her direct responsibilities included supporting and strengthening academic program development for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral educator preparation programs across the University; research aimed at improving the recruitment, preparation and development of teachers and school leaders; enhancing outreach programs of UNC’s fifteen accredited schools of education; and working with the UNC Council of Education Deans, NC Department of Public Instruction, State Board of Education and North Carolina General Assembly on K16 education matters.  During her time at the UNC System office, Alisa’s research and development activity was funded by more than $47 million in grants and sponsored research.
